The Measuring-System is built up of an external tubular electrode (1) a smaller
electrode (2) and a ventilator (3) mounted within. Between the electrodes a DC
potential (4) of 60 Volt is applied. This creates an electric field between the
electrodes. The ventilator (3) draws air continuously at a defined volumetric
quantity through the tube. The electric field between the electrodes deflects
the ions in the passing air to the inner electrode. At resistors of high
impedance (5) (up to 1011 Ohm) the charging current generated by the
charge neutralising will lead to a measurable voltage.
This signal, which is proportional to the concentration of ions in the
air can then be processed with an adequate amplifier (6). The signal can
then be used for: lthe output of the readings at the Analogue Display
(7) lthe Analogue Line Out (8) lthe internal Analogue/Digital Converter for
data logging and output of data via the serial port |
